Minnesota Housing Partnership’s Investors Council connects the business community with public and nonprofit leaders.
The Investor’s Council was formed in the spirit of Minnesota’s earliest business leaders, who developed worker housing and supported the creation of nonprofit housing for the less fortunate. Minnesota Housing Partnership’s Investors Council embodies that tradition today, creating opportunities for dialogue and investment to improve our families, communities and state.
Affordable Housing is not just a housing issue. It is:
- An Employee Assistance issue: A household dependent on the salary of one policeman, K-12 teacher, janitor, or clerical worker alone, “could not afford a median priced home in most metropolitan areas in Minnesota.”
- A Business Development issue: Twin Cities businesses lose $137 million in annual revenues due to a lack of housing affordable to their workers.
- A Tax Base issue: The Twin Cities lose $128 million in annual consumer spending due to the inadequate supply of workforce housing.
- An Investment issue: For every $1 invested in workforce housing in Minnesota, there is a return of $8.13.
- A Rural Community Support issue: Small towns and rural communities urgently need median-priced housing stock to keep pace with the job markets in larger metropolitan areas.
Join the business community’s dialogue about housing and economic development issues and strengthen and diversify Minnesota Housing Partnership’s financial base.
Investors Council members commit to annual support of Minnesota Housing Partnership. Their investment provides MHP with the stability needed to continue its programs and increase communication and collaboration among diverse stakeholders concerned with expanding housing opportunities in this state. In exchange, MHP gives the Investors Council:
- Company Recognition and Visibility by contributing to an improved affordable housing environment and the opportunity for members to partner with like-minded companies.
- Investors Council Events where you can meet with the individuals who drive and influence affordable housing in the state. You get an insider view on affordable housing from the perspectives of state and local government officials, business leaders, and nonprofits.
- Current Information and Analysis of legislative and regulatory proposals affecting housing for workers and low-income Minnesotans. By taking advantage of MHP’s bi-monthly bulletins, seminal briefings, and report summaries you can stay abreast of how housing policies affect health, education, workforce readiness, taxation and other elements of Minnesota’s economy and quality of life.
Investors Council members can invest at one of three levels.
- A Community Builder commits $5,000 or more annually. Members contributing at this premium level are recognized as sponsors of Investors Council events. They are listed on event invitations and programs, provided space for sponsorship recognition in the meeting space, and given the opportunity to introduce speakers.
