June - October 2018 | EVENT SERIES "Racism, Rent and Real Estate: Fair Housing Reframed"
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, landmark legislation authored by a young Minnesota senator named Walter Mondale that sought to remedy housing discrimination through the lens of that era — addressing segregation and promoting integration. Through a multi-event series convened by MHP, Mapping Prejudice Project, and Mill City Consulting, Fair Housing Reframed will use the history of Minneapolis and current community organizing to explore the benefits and harms of the Fair Housing Act, identify how racialized barriers to housing still manifest today and create the community and political will to make change.
Round 5 of MHP's Housing Institute is underway! The Housing Institute convenes leaders from a city or region to tackle a community development project that addresses a pressing local need. MHP's technical assistance team provides training, guidance, and facilitates peer-to-peer learning throughout the 18-month process. Learn more here.
The next Round 5 workshops will take place September 4 and 5 in Detroit Lakes, MN.
